Conservation services

The National Museum’s Conservation division offers a range of conservation services.

In addition to artefact, art, furniture, textile and paper conservation, the Conservation division possesses the expertise, large-capacity facilities and digital equipment for conducting X-ray examinations.

The Collections and Conservation Centre also does material analyses with its XRF and FTIR devices.

Discoveries from shipwrecks and other wet organic material can be handled with the facility’s vacuum freeze dryer, which has a 5-metre-long chamber.

Please note that the availability and scheduling of conservation services is influenced by the personnel’s other work with the National Museum’s own exhibition and research projects.
